Discover Skopje and surroundings

Skopje is the capital and largest city of the Republic of North Macedonia. It is the country’s political, cultural, economic, and academic center.

We are looking forward to join us in Skopje – the cross-section where east meets west, presenting interesting blend of cultures with warm hospitality and even warmer chestnuts in November that the whole city smells of.

History

Skopje represents a unique intersection of civilizations, with a historical continuum that spans from prehistoric settlements to the modern era. Its development has been shaped by successive influences from the Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Yugoslav periods, each leaving a distinct imprint on the city’s identity.
Archaeological findings indicate that the area has been inhabited since ancient times, while landmarks such as the Skopje Fortress (Kale), dating back to the 6th century, stand as enduring symbols of the city’s strategic and cultural significance. Throughout history, Skopje has served as a crossroads of trade, conflict, and cultural exchange, resulting in a rich and layered heritage visible in its architecture, urban structure, and traditions.
Today, Skopje offers visitors a living narrative of its past, where historical monuments seamlessly coexist with contemporary urban life.
