Leading Transformation in the Age of AI: Bridging Business and Academic Perspectives

The implementation of AI in organizations begins with understanding the technology — what it is, how it works, and where it fits. Yet meaningful adoption requires a holistic view, as AI extends far beyond the technical layer. It transforms business strategies, challenging organizations to rethink how value is created, how business models evolve, and how competitive advantage is sustained. It reshapes people, influencing work habits and emphasizing performance leadership, personal agility, and a growth mindset, which are the human qualities that make transformation possible. And it demands a new level of communication. On one side, it must bridge technical and non-technical teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and shared understanding. On the other hand, it must build trust through transparent and consistent communication from leadership, creating a culture where AI adoption is guided by purpose and confidence.

Together, these four dimensions — Technology, Strategy, People, and Communication — form the foundation of successful AI transformation and open new frontiers for research.

AI is transforming both the business and academic worlds:

  • It raises new questions about which skills and forms of knowledge will be most valuable in an AI-driven economy.

  • It shapes how business models evolve and how universities can adapt their programs to stay relevant.

  • It influences how research is conducted and how collaboration between academia and industry can develop new approaches to AI-driven innovation.

In this workshop, participants will:

  • Explore these dimensions and their implications.

  • Co-create a dialogue on what academia should focus on next.

  • Identify key research questions, conceptual gaps, and opportunities for collaboration that will shape the next phase of AI-driven innovation.
